The Social Welfare and Pension Bill 2011

A very topical issue at present is the minimum wage. The recent Bill proposal which is considering to make changes to the State pension age and the minimum wage has been debated in the Dail recently. Both will be tackled as part of the Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2011. The practical implications will involve the increase of the Minimum Wage to the previous rate of EUR 8.65 and the phased increase of the State pension age between 2014 and 2028.

Employers should seek advice from Chamber HR when faced with a potential retirement situation. Please phone the Chamber HR Advice Service on 1850 252 923 and one of our experienced advisors will be happy to assist.

Upcoming changes to the Retail Grocery and Allied Trades ERO

The Retail Employment Regulation Order (ERO) in Ireland sets minimum wage levels and other terms of employment which go above and beyond the minimum requirements under employment legislation. Despite the furore that has surrounded such agreements since the recent independent review, the Labour Court has recently announced that there is to be an increase in the minimum rates of remuneration outlined in the Retail ERO and that such an increase is to take effect from the 1st July 2011.

Should you have a query about the amendments to the Retail Grocery and Allied Trades ERO, please contact our 24 Hour Chamber HR Advice Service on 1890 252 923 where one of our experienced advisors will be happy to help.
